If you want to be a home health aide covered by Medicare, you must satisfy the minimum federal requirement of 75 hours of classroom learning, including 16 hours of supervised, hands-on learning. This is highly recommended, as most home health aide agencies are required to ensure their staff meets these requirements. This home health aide course prepares currently certified nursing assistants to take their skills into the homes of patients and provide additional care. In total, you’ll complete 120 hours of classroom instruction, but you'll need to find another provider for the federally mandated 16 hours of hands-on learning. In addition to the online courses, you’ll also receive the “Start Your Own Caregiver Service Business Guide,” which provides practical advice for starting your caregiving business.

For formal home health aide training, prospective candidates may look to programs offered by community colleges and other post-secondary institutions. These programs often last a semester, and applicants may need to complete a physical examination, including state-mandated blood tests, and a background check in order to enroll. A home health aide is a person working for a home health agency or hospice that performs home health services ordered by a licensed nclexthewaytopass physician, licensed chiropractor, licensed podiatrist, or licensed optometrist. The home health aide must successfully complete a home health agency's competency evaluation. Home Health Agencies and Hospices are responsible for establishing their own policies on qualifications and needed training. State government does not certify training sites or the syllabus of each individual agency or organization under contract to provide training services.

This is a mandatory training course for Ohio Nurse Assistants who work in Long Term Care. This 75 hour course includes 16 hours of clinical training and 59 hours of lecture and skill laboratory practice.
